``There are three gates to self-destructive hell: lust, anger and greed `` - The Bhagavad Gita

Hindu Puranas prediction about the Kalki Avatar?

Hinduism is a vast and intriguing religion. In the Hindu religion, the mythology incredibly rich along with deep-rooted faith, and yes, some astounding predictions as well. One such interesting predictive philosophy is found in the scriptures for the birth of the Kalki Avatar.

As much as it is interesting, the birth of Kalki also has a number of mysteries around it. Who is the Kalki? When will Kalki take birth? Has the birth already happened? How does Kalki look like? What is the purpose of Lord Vishnu’s Kalki Avatar? Will it come as savor, or punish the human race for its misdeeds?

These are some of the questions that have been a point of discussion in the religious and spiritual circles for a long time now. Though no one knows the unknown, our Puranas have an answer to almost all apprehensions of the future, and to the birth of Kalki Avatar and his life and purpose as well. There have been elaborate comprehensions about the Kalki avatar in a variety of religious texts.

Kalkii

What is Kalki Avatar?

In the Hindu faith, Lord Vishnu is believed to have 25 ‘avatars’ or ‘incarnations’. Kalki is believed to be the last incarnation of Lord Vishnu in this Mahayuga.

The ongoing yuga that all of us are living in, is the Kali Yuga (Iron Age). As the mythology goes, just before the beginning of the Kaliyuga, the sage Markandeya had a conversation with Lord Vishnu. The significant conversation between Markandeya and Lord Vishnu has been recorded in Mahabharata. A passage in the Mahabharata text states that at that time Lord Vishnu spoke of a time when the human values will deteriorate completely, and evil falsehoods will triumph over the truth. This has been described as the darkest period of the Kali Yuga. It is during this period that Lord Vishnu will take birth on earth in a human form, considered to be the Kalki Avatar, intervene, eliminate the evil, and set the world towards a new path of truth and prosperity.

Lord Vishnu’s statement, as quoted from Mahabharata, “When evil is rampant upon this earth, I will take birth in the family of a virtuous man, and assume a human body to restore tranquility by the extermination of all evils. For the preservation of rectitude and morality, I will assume an inconceivable human form. In the Kali Age of sin, I will assume an Avatar form that is dark in color. I will be born into a family in south India. This Avatar will possess great energy, great intelligence, and great powers.”

Further, it is stated that “Material objects needed for this Avatar’s mission will be at his disposal as soon as he will think of them. He will be victorious with the strength of virtue. He will restore order and peace in the world. This Avatar will inaugurate a new era of truth and will be surrounded by spiritual people. The people of the earth will imitate this Avatar’s conduct, and there will be prosperity and peace. Men will once more betake themselves to the practice of religious rites.”

Has the time of incarnation arrived, or has the incarnation already taken place? – the biggest mystery.

The birth of Kalki, with varying names, has been predicted by various religious texts for thousands of years. The Book of Revelations, The Ocean of Light, Nostradamus in his book Centuries, and the Shuka Naadi Granthi contain dedicated chapters with a detailed hypothesis on the incarnation of a savior of the world. So, there’s no doubt over that.

The time of the darkest period, and the birth of Kalki

However, how and when exactly will this incarnation take place, is the biggest question that is predicted by the Nostradamus that he will be born on a Thursday and by the Hindu Purana, he will be born on the 12th day after the full moon of the Hindu month Baishakhi, just few years before than the end of Kali Yuga.

One thing that the various predictions and prophecies state about the Kalki Avatar is that the birth of Kalki will correspond to the darkest period of the human existence in the Kali Yuga. It corresponds to the twentieth century when the world wars take place, nuclear weapons are developed, the world goes in the hands of power hungry dictators with authoritarian rule. This is also the time of famines, floods, pollution, disease, crime, and violence. It is at this time that Lord Vishnu will take a human form and arrive on the planet, putting all things in order. It has been stated that there will be enough signs and indications of the birth of the Lord, and it will be seen that there is no way forward for the humans and it will be a dire necessity for the Lord to take the Avatar.

What to make out of it?

It is a widely accepted fact that the birth of Kalki will, in fact, take place. One can’t really ignore the hypothesis, which is duly supported by the Puranas as the hypothesis. Moreover, everything mentioned in the Kalki Puranas is allegorical in nature and can be interpreted in all directions. It may be argued that the commentaries which are often quoted to predict the timing of the birth have somehow rendered the original texts, and are now being taken in literal context rather than the symbolic nature that they were originally intended to. Still, there is no way that one can ignore the accurate astrological arrangements that have been specifically predicted corresponding to the time of the birth.
